The Irish
Water Polo Association (IWPA) was founded in 1964 and is the National
Governing Body for Waterpolo in Ireland, under the auspices of Swim Ireland.
Through the parent body (Swim Ireland), IWPA is affiliated to the World
Governing Body (FINA) and the European Governing Body (LEN). All IWPA
competitions are held under FINA and LEN Rules The IWPA has
4 Provincial Branches - Connaught, Leinster, Munster and Ulster. Clubs in each
province affiliate to the Branch. There are
National Leagues for both Men and Women. There are also Irish Cup
Championships for Boys (under 14, 16 and under 19), Girls (under 14, 16 and
under 19), Women and Men. Ireland Waterpolo has National sides for Men and
Women, and for Junior Boys and Junior Girls.
